Over the past four years, Aark has admitted and treated over 1,200 raccoons! How they are housed during their stay at our facility is a crucial part of their recovery and is also important for the safety of our staff.
While our old enclosures served us well, it is time to expand and upgrade our outdoor racoon enclosures in order to provide our furry patients with more space for pre-release conditioning. Pre-release conditioning is a critical part of the rehabilitation for process for both adults and babies. This time spent outdoors in a safe enclosure allows a recovering adult room to strengthen and heal before returning home and gives the babies space to develop the life skills they will need to survive successfully in the wild.
