Wildlife Camp:

This camp is for your budding naturalist who is wild about wildlife. An introductory course to the world of animals and the variety of species we have around us, each day will focus on a particular topic with that day’s activities revolving around it. Children will be learning about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates, and the ecosystems those animals live in through a variety of games, activities, crafts, live animal presentations, and even hands-on work outdoors with activities such as sweep netting for insects, searching for and tracking wildlife on Aark’s property, and conducting their very own stream study.

Animal Husbandry Camp:

This camp is directed at children who aspire to one day work in the animal field, whether it be as a zookeeper, veterinarian, a future rehabber, or even just someone who loves animals and wants to become a better pet owner for their animals at home! The activities in this camp will revolve around learning the basics of what it is like to work with and keep animals healthy and happy in captivity with each day revolving around a certain aspect of animal husbandry. Throughout the week there will be different lessons, games, and activities following the theme of that day, covering topics such as diets, veterinary care, enrichment, training, and more. During camp, children will not only be learning about these topics but engaging as well, being able to assist in the care of some of Aark’s patients and even interacting with some of our “more-friendly” ambassadors.

Wildlife Biologist in Training:

A more advanced camp for older students, this program is designed for kids who are seriously interested in nature and may be considering careers in wildlife fields such as zoology, marine biology, ecology, wildlife management, and wildlife conservation, just to name a few. During this camp, students will be learning about different aspects of working with, monitoring, and studying wildlife through hands on experience with the use of college-level skills. Topics such as using trail cameras, track identification, population estimates, habitat quality assessments, species surveys, and more will be covered, giving students a real-world view of what it is like to work with wildlife.

COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all children must wear masks. We are taking precautions to ensure the children are safe and socially distant. Each child will have their own basket for their belongings and craft tools. We have also set up workstations for each child with clear guards to keep our children safe. Once you have registered you will receive a packet of information with a list of items that should be brought with them.

We look forward to working with your children this year!
